Louisville Houses

I love driving around or walking around the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville and seeing all the great houses, some majestic mansions full of "old money," some less fancy but not without their own unique richness and charm....

What I did today...

Woke up and had the Aunt Nancy's egg special for breakfast...
Watched the view. Michael J Fox was on talking about his new book and show Adventures of an Incurable Optimist. He is such an amazing person! To be dealing with the illness that he has with such dignity and grace and optimism and happiness, is inspirational.
Did laundry, made the bed, other various house-wifey things...
Went to work.

Today I just had to watch John Henry.... so we played some flying baby games,

and watched Marley & Me (well I watched while he napped). It was a lot better than I expected it to be. Really cute and relatable... and...I think I want a dog now!

After the movie we took a walk around the neighborhood and looked at all the gorgeous and unique houses that you just don't notice as much when you're driving in the car. Somedays I can really see us living down here!

Fallingwater

While in PA for said wedding, we went to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house FALLINGWATER. What is Fallingwater you ask? Here the answer from the website: "

Fallingwater is the name of a very special house that is built over a waterfall. Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, designed the house for his clients, the Kaufmann family (they were the proprietors of Kaufmann Dept stores, now part of the Macy's chain). Fallingwater was built between 1936 and 1939. It instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic Landmark."

It was really neat to see! A marvel of architecture....

Cincinnati

Over the weekend of April 24-26 we went to PA for a wedding. On the way we stopped in Cincinnati...

We went to the Newport Aquarium and met some friendly fishes and turtles... Oh and Penguins! I love Penguins!

Despereaux and Princess Pea

These are the bunnies that live outside our front door. They are always out there when we go out or come home... and though there are ample yards in our row of town homes, they only like ours! So I'm adopting them. They are a couple, who I've named Despereaux and Princess Pea after my new favorite kids movie. They seem very friendly and almost let us come up to them! Yesterday we witnessed what we can only assume is bunny mating... they were literally jumping up off the ground at each other and trying to kiss, I swear! I know it's common knowledge that bunnies hop, but I realized yesterday that you couldn't prove it by me, I've never actually seen one do it... Until now! I hope we have little baby bunnies soon... under our bush would be a good place to raise young I mentioned to the happy couple... we'll see if they take me up on that.

Thunder Over Louisville!

Oops, haven't blogged in a while. Like my friend the Ravenous Veg, I thought I'd keep up better! Well, a lot has happened since I last wrote... Rita the Ravenous Veg and her sister came to visit and we went to eat at lovely Louisville vegetarian friendly establishments, went shopping, touring the area that I work, the girls met the little girl and baby boy that I watch, we went to our local Heine Brother's coffee shop, and to Thunder Over Louisville, a HUGE fireworks show on the Ohio River that starts the KY Derby festivities every year. It is famed to one of the biggest fireworks shows in the US, and it's really fun to sit along the banks of the river and watch as they shoot fireworks off the bridge and barges in the middle of the river... It's quite amazing to watch!
